This CD contains the best of the demoscene of the past years. You will find
nearly 2200 uncompressed demos in the corresponding directories. This CD
also contains more than 300 diskimages, you can uncompress to disk by a
simple doubleclick.
The contents of the main directories:
Aga only (68 MB) – Demos for AGA-machines only
Diskstuff (178 MB) – Demos to be unpacked to disk
Big Bunch (223 MB) – The directory with most of the demos
Hear Me (59 MB) – Demos and music
See Me (7 MB) – Slideshows and Pictures
Intros (15 MB) – The best intros
Mags (18 MB) – The best magazines
Minis (14 MB) – All Demos smaller than 50KB
Party Time (38 MB) – The best of all partyevents
Tools (2 MB) – Useful Tools
More than 600 MB of demos in more than 1400 directories and in nearly 15000
files are included on this CD. With this, you get a complete overview of
the demoscene of the last years until now.
Simply open one of the directories and enjoy, what the best demo-coders
have to offer you.
Most of the demos can be started by a simple doubleclick, when the
environment is set as the readme-file tells you. The meaning of these
keywords is as follows:
PAL – Your workbench must run on PAL
NoAGA – AGA must be deactivated (e.g. by “Early Startup Control”)
NoCache – The prozessor caches must be deactivated
NoQuit – The demo can’t be stopped
NoA4000 – Will not run on A4000
In the tools directory you will find some programs you can use to set some
of the parameters that need to be changed for that every demo will run on
nearly every computer.
Also in the main directory you’ll find some setup programs, that will help
you change the environment.
Assigns – This temporary adds some directories on this CD to the system
path of your computer. This is important to start programs, which
may not be in your standard system path.
Colors – Changes your system’s colors so that all icons on this CD will be
displayed correctly.
Screen – Switches to an eight color PAL resolution. Please remember that
most demos will only start, when your workbench is in PAL
resolution.
The settings you change with “Screen” and “Colors” can be permanently fixed
when you afterwards start the prefs programs “Screenmode” and “Palette” and
save the actual environment. The assigns can’t be permanently build into
user-startup, because you don’t always have this CD in your computer and
you would otherwise get system errors. You can instead copy all the
necessary data from the SYS directory of this CD to your system path.
Before doing this, please check the version numbers, so that you don’t
replace newer versions with older ones !
